ACC/MCC/ECC/ECCS Program:

Cruise Counsellor Certification - Three Easy Steps to Enrollment & Requirements

  1. Enroll in the Program. Complete the application. Fax or mail the completed application to CLIA with the enrollment fee. Within 2 weeks, you’ll receive your enrollment materials.

  2. Determine Credit Already Earned. Credit is awarded for the following items completed: attending CLIA classroom training courses, CLIA co-sponsored or endorsed cruise conferences, the CLIA Institute, inspecting CLIA member line ships* and taking cruises*. Order exams for training programs already attended and videos you already have.

  3. Earn Remaining Credits & Certification Within 2 Years. Accredited/Master Cruise Counsellor - You have 2 years from the date of enrollment to achieve ACC Certification (and 2 additional years for MCC) by fulfilling credit requirements for the training and product knowledge categories shown below.

    Elite Cruise Counsellor/Elite Scholar - To achieve the highest level of certification in the cruise industry, Elite Cruise Counsellor (ECC), you must first attain your ACC and MCC Certification. You then have 2 years from date of enrollment to achieve ECC Certification requirements. ECC Scholar is earned for each calendar year. Annual renewal, product knowledge and training are required to maintain the Scholar Level.

After your certification requirements are satisfied, submit your completed Captain's Log along with the appropriate documentation for your Certified Cruise Counsellor material.

*Ship inspections and cruises are only awarded for those taken within the last 3 years, so ENROLL TODAY!

ACCREDITED AND MASTER CRUISE COUNSELLOR (AAC/MCC)

Accredited Cruise Counsellor
Requirements (ACC):
100 Total Credits
$65 for 2 year enrollment

A. Mandatory Training (30 credits)
Completion of 2 CLIA Classroom or Online Courses & Exams (15 credits each)

-OR-

Completion of Cruising--A Guide To The Cruise Industry Textbook & Exam (30 credits)

B. Any Combination of Elective Training (50 credits)

  • Completion of other CLIA Seminars and Exams (15 credits each)
  • Completion of CLIA Video Training & Exams (10 credits)
  • Attendance at CLIA Co-Sponsored/Endorsed Cruise Conference (10 credits per event)
  • Completion of CLIA Institute (50 credits)
  • Completion of Textbook & Exam (30 credits)
  • Achieve The Travel Institute's (TTI, formerly ICTA) CTC or CTA designation (10 credits)
  • Achieve CITC's CTC or CTM designation (10 credits)
  • Attendance at member line seminar (2 credits each/max.10)
  • Successful completion of member line online seminars (5 credits each, maximum 15 credits)
C. Product Knowledge (20 credits) (CLIA Member Cruise Lines only)
  • Personal Cruise Experience: One cruise of 2-6 days, one cruise of 7 + days, both on different CLIA member lines
  • 5 Shipboard inspections
    - AND-
    25 cabins sold within 12 consecutive calendar months during enrollment period.

Master Cruise Counsellor
Requirements (MCC):
100 Total Credits (In addition to ACC Requirements)
$65 for 2 year enrollment

Prerequisite:
Successful completion of Accredited Cruise Counsellor Certification

A. Mandatory Training (50 credits)
Successful Completion of CLIA Institute (50 credits)

-OR-

Successful Completion of 3 Case Studies (50 total credits)

B. Any Combination of Elective Training (30 credits)

  • Completion of Other CLIA Training Seminars and Exams (15 credits each)
  • Completion of CLIA Video Training and Exams (10 credits each)
  • Attendance at CLIA Co-Sponsored / Endorsed Cruise Conferences (10 credits per event)
  • Completion of Cruising--A Guide To The Cruise Industry Textbook and Exam. (30 credits)
  • Achievement of The Travel Institute's (TTI, formerly ICTA) CTC or CTA designation (10 credits)
  • Achievement of CITC's CTC or CTM designation (10 credits)
  • Attending member line product seminars (2 credits each, maximum 10 credits)
  • Successful completion of member line online seminars (5 credits each, maximum 15 credits)

  • Personal Cruise Experience: two cruises of 7+ days on different CLIA member line ships

  • 40 cabins sold within 12 consecutive calendar months during enrollment period.
Announcing Our New Certification Level
ELITE CRUISE COUNSELLOR (ECC)

Elite Cruise Counsellor Requirements (ECC):
$65 for a 2 year enrollment

Prerequisite:
Must have attained Master Cruise Counsellor Certification

A. Mandatory Training:
Must be MCC for eligibility

  • Successful completion of any 10 live or online seminars and exams. (All seminars taken for ACC and MCC are accepted. Training requirements apply to "15 credit" live or online seminars only.)
B. Product Knowledge:
CLIA member lines only
  • Personal Cruise experience: 1 of 7+ days on a cruise line not utilized for either ACC or MCC Certification credit.
  • 5 Shipboard inspections
  • 50 cabins sold within 12 consecutive calendar months.

Elite Cruise Counsellor Scholar
Requirements (ECCS):
Renewable Annually $20 per year registration

Prerequisite:
Successful Completion of Elite Cruise Counsellor Certification

A. Mandatory Training:

  • Successful completion of ALL CLIA courses and exams either online or classroom. (New seminars are added annually. Training requirements apply to "15 credit" live or online seminars only.)
B. Product Knowledge:
CLIA member lines only
  • Personal Cruise experience: 1 of 7+ days on any CLIA member cruise lines.
  • 30 cabins sold during your annual enrollment period.
